I had the idea for this image in a moment of creativity - if you can call it that way. The idea was mainly to create the image of the moment a creature living in darkness all the time is exposed to light for the first time in its life.
Because I loved the idea of it I immediately started working on Photoshop to create a rough concept I could work after in 3D.

The rough model was created in XSI and exported afterwards into ZBrush. Modelling was finished rather quickly although the post production in Photoshop took ages to finish.
Overall time to finish this image was three weeks in the afternoons and evenings.

For statistical interested: 41 layers in Photoshop and original resolution is 1800x2400.
